As a mountain range in the central part of the Tibetan Plateau, theTanggula Mountains are in the Nagqu prefecture of the Tibet autonomous region. The elevations of the main ridge average more than 5,000 meters. The Yangtze River also originates in this mountain range.[China.org.cn/Photo by Han Bo]
