Daqing is a prefecture-level city in the western part of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The name literally means "Great Celebration". Daqing is known as the oil capital of China and has experienced a phenomenal boom since crude was discovered here in 1959. Daqing's economy highly depends on petroleum and related industries. Daqing's oilfield is China's largest, and the world's fourth most productive oil field. [China.org.cn/Photo by Qiao Xiaochun]
