Shang village, an ancient village in China's Anhui province, is well-preserved to maintain its original appearance and culture, complete with ancient wells and bridges. The history of Shang village dates back 1,000 years, when several gentry clans and large families moved to Huizhou to escape the wars and violence of the late Tang dynasty. As the village was somewhat cut off from the outside world, its unique culture was preserved. In ancient times, the residents achieved self-sufficiency. Today, there are still dozens of traditional craftsmen in the village.
