The village level "river chief" Yang Feng (C) and sanitation workers patrol in the Chuanfang River in Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan Province, Jan. 6, 2017. China has appointed about 200,000 "river chiefs" at provincial, city, county and township levels to fight pollution. The country aims to roll out the river chief mechanism nationwide by the end of 2018.
