The Greater Khingan Range is a volcanic mountain range in northeast China known for its beauty. The range extends roughly 1,200 kilometers from north to south, narrowing towards the south. With a width of 200 to 300 kilometers, it divides the Manchurian Plain to the east from the Inner Mongolian Plateau to the west.
The range is located in the cold temperate zone and is mainly influenced by continental monsoon climate. As a result, its forest landscapes change throughout the different seasons. The range is reputedly at its best in autumn, with a colored forest and clear sky.[China.org.cn/Photo by Tian Gao]
