The 30th Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Expo concluded on March 11. However, its host site will reopen to tourists on April 1 following repairs and maintenance.

This year's expo ran for 82 days starting on Dec 20, 2017, and received a total of 400,000 tourists from home and abroad.

The expo included a 3D lightshow telling the story of Harbin's winter activities and the history of the snow sculpture expo.

The expo was held on Harbin Sun Island, a 5A scenic spot on the northern bank of Songhua River.

Sun Island is the only wetland scenic area located in the center of the city, covering an area of 38 square kilometers.

It has been designated a National Scenic Area, and a State water recreation destination. It has also been granted the China Habitat Environment Award and named by the Council of the United Nations as a Model United Nations FOUN Ecological Island.

Its unique natural beauty is well known. Tourists can enjoy waterfalls, blooming flowers, migrating birds, and a diverse range of local customs.
