The 35th Yanqing Ice and Snow Festival, themed “winter warmth,” was launched in northwestern Beijing’s Yanqing district on December 5. The festival will feature a total of nearly 100 ice and snow activities whereby people could experience winter sports and savor the taste of local culture and cuisine.
During the festival, visitors could have a bird’s eye view of Yanqing through high altitude programs such as fixed-wing flight, snow parasailing and drone performance. In addition, Yanqing will host the Yudu Mountain Snow Sculpture Festival, Yongning Lantern Festival and Temple Fair and Pet Ice and Snow Carnival.
Yanqing’s Shijinglong and Badaling ski resorts opened on Dec. 5 with precautions aimed to keep guests safe amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The 35th Yanqing Ice and Snow Festival will last till next March and is expected to embrace more visitors as the Yanqing line, one of the major transport infrastructure projects for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, was put to operation on Dec. 1. The 9.33-km line with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour provides a much faster connection between Yanqing and downtown Beijing.
