China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced 15 newly-recognized national-level tourist and resort zones, bringing the total number of such zones in the country to 45.
The 45 zones, scattered across 23 provincial-level regions in the country, cover multiple types of resort destinations, such as rivers, lakes, wetlands, mountain forests, grasslands, deserts, hot springs, coastal areas, winter sports areas, and cultural theme activities as well as ancient cities.
Below, we take a look at these tourist and resort zones:
# Yabuli ski resort
Location: Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang province
Once the hunting ground for feudal lords during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Yabuli ski resort has a reputation for being one of the biggest and best-known ski resorts in China.
One of the areas to host the AsianWinter Games in 1996, the resort is well equipped for winter sports and has various trails that cater to skiers of all levels.
In addition to skiing, sleigh and snowmobile rides and other entertainment facilities such as a mini-golf course, tennis court, and hot-air balloon rides are also available in the resort.
