The Xiangyingxiang Apricot Flower Festival kicked off on April 12 in Xinzhuangbu village, Xiangying township, northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district.

Early April is the best time to see apricot flowers in bloom in Yanqing as spring bursts into life. Tourists could enjoy a vast sea of pink blossoms, besides attending a host of activities such as bike riding, hiking and experiencing the rustic charm of rural life.

Xinzhuangbu village, reputed as Village of Apricot Flower in Beijing, boasts the largest apricot planting base in north China. June and July are apricot picking season in the village.

During the festival, the village also organized activities to help local farmers with their apricot planting and sales.
