The Chenggong Dounan Flower Market, the biggest flower wholesale market in Asia, is located near the east coast of Dianchi Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Yunnan. Dounan town is blessed with splendid weather to grow beautiful flowers.
The flower market undertakes over 80 percent of the flower business among Yunnan province, nearby provinces and nearby countries. The products of the market have been exported to over 50 countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Russia and Australia.
Chenggong is also a cluster of universities and sci-tech institutions including Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, the Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunan Provincial Digital Economic Development Zone and Kunming Big Data Center.
The district is also where the China-Laos Railway, a flagship project within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, starts.
