On Sept. 28, the Lao'e Mountain Trail 2024 kicked off in Danling county, southwest China's Sichuan province. Professional runners and parent-child running groups from 16 provinces in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign runners from such countries as UK and Poland, joined the event.

This race, set against the scenic wonders of Lao'e Mountain and Huangjin Gorge, attracts nearly 1,000 participants. It has three carefully-designed routes: a 33-km trail running route, a 15-km mountain running route, and a 5-km parent-child adventure route.

Lao'e Mountain is located on the southwestern edge of the Chengdu Plain at an altitude of 1142 meters. A national AAAA-level tourist destination, the mountain boasts exuding natural beauty and grandeur.

Each year, on the lunar June 6, a mountain-worshiping event is held here in Danling. It originates from the Sui Dynasty (581-618), and flourishes in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1840). This enduring tradition is a vibrant folk celebration combining mountain worship, Buddhist enlightenment, summer recreation, cultural performances and folk cultural exchanges.

During the race, Danling county showcases its beautiful scenic routes and distinctive local cuisine, including Zen tea, Danling frozen rice cakes, succulent mutton dishes, fruit wines and spicy hot pot. This event not only challenges runners to push their limits, but also invites them to savor the breathtaking natural landscapes and profound cultural legacy of Lao'e Mountain.
