Beijing plans to proactively cultivate new tourism paradigms, such as incorporating sports and integrating film and television into the tourism industry, according to the government work report presented during the third session of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress this week.

The capital will add 100 new "Beijing City Walk" tourist routes in 2025, the report said.

The new tourist routes will integrate with major sporting events, film and television productions.

"Traditional industrial tourism mainly consists of onsite tours and relic tours, such as 798 Art Zone and Shougang Park," said Zhang Jing from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

"The upcoming modern industrial tourism will cover places with Beijing's high-tech elements like the Xiaomi automotive factory and the Robot World in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area," Zhang said.

The new routes embody the concept of multi-industry integration, providing visitors with more personalized and diverse choices.

In recent years, Beijing has continuously added new distinctive tourism routes, allowing more tourists from home and abroad to experience Beijing's beauty and development, with the number of tourists in Beijing increasing continuously.

Data released by the bureau on Monday revealed that in 2024, Beijing welcomed a total of 3.942 million inbound tourists, marking a year-on-year increase of 186.8 percent.
