Beijing Customs on Thursday released data on passenger traffic at the capital's two major airports, Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport, during the Spring Festival holiday (Jan. 28 to Feb. 4). The figures revealed a significant increase in international travel, with a total of 457,428 inbound and outbound passengers passing through the two airports, an increase of 20.97% year on year.

This year's Spring Festival saw a notable rise in international travel, as China updated transit visa policies in 2024, making it easier for foreign tourists to visit.

Inbound and outbound passenger volume at Beijing Capital International Airport reached 334,276 in the eight-day holiday, marking a 17.4% increase compared to the previous year. The airport experienced its peak traffic on Feb. 2, with 46,670 passengers in a single day.

Meanwhile, Beijing Daxing International Airport saw 123,152 inbound and outbound passengers, a remarkable growth of 31.7% year on year, with its busiest day on Feb. 4 recording 18,613 passengers.

To accommodate the surge in travelers, Beijing Customs implemented several measures to ensure smooth operations. Special assistance was provided to passengers with disabilities, including dedicated lanes for wheelchair users. A multilingual support system was also established, providing language services and tools to accommodate foreign visitors.
