Langzhong Ancient City is a national AAAAA-level scenic area. It is the birthplace of China’s spring festival and is among the four Chinese ancient cities which also include Lijiang in Yunnan, Pingyao in Shanxi and She County in Anhui. Langzhong Ancient City lies on the northeast edge of Sichuan Basin on the middle reaches of Jialing River. With a history of 2,300 years, it was a vital military town during the Ba and Shu states.
Langzhong has fertile soil, beautiful river, a pleasant climate and abundant natural resources. It is included into the “Ancient Shu Road at Jianmen Pass” set of scenic areas grouped together for the application of a world heritage designation in 2014.
Langzhong also boasts plenty of tourism resources, including eight cultural relics under state protection, 22 under provincial protection of Sichuan, 11 under city-level protection of Nanchong and over 100 under county-level protection.
