Along the bank of Jinsha River on the upper reaches of Yangtze River there is a small ancient town called Dege.

Entering this mysterious land administered by Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, visitors first see rolling high mountains, which, although not as magnificent and beautiful as mountains seen elsewhere, are stately and awe-inspiring. The mountains are often covered by snow, which, along with the blue sky, adds a sense of holiness to the area.

Grasslands here are nestled among the mountains and become a sea of flowers in summer. Yalong River passes along the edges of the grasslands with an abundant variety of fishes and shrimps.

Tibetan Buddhism flourishes in Dege. There are many a resplendent and magnificent temples with orderly-arranged engravings of deities and animals.

Local people are simple and unpretentious and live and work in peace and contentment.
