Sitting south to Chengdu, the beautiful Meishan city plans to host its second cherry blossom festival which will last for 10 days starting from March 16.
The main venue of the festival will be set at the city’s cherry blossom park that takes up 54.7 hectares along Mindong Dadao in Dongpo district.
Extending from the park, a 20-kilometer cherry blossom belt runs across the Minjiang River, connecting to the Wuhu Sihai scenic site and Binjiang Dadao on the waterfront in Pengshan district. Walking, bicycling or driving through the winding path lined by blossoming cherry trees will present a memorable experience for visitors.
Besides cherry blossom admiring opportunities, Meishan will also play to the rich tourism resources in and around the city to cater to the varying demands of incoming visitors. Seven carefully designed itineraries will cover cultural heritages, traditional lifestyles in ancient towns and villages, bamboo crafts, gastronomy, natural landscapes, and countryside views.
Famous tourism attractions will be covered on the routes, including the Wawu Mountain, Emei Mountain, Heilongtan Reservoir, Liujiang old town, Danleng old village, and of course, the must-see place in the city - San Su Ci, a museum and memorial hall transformed from the former residence of great Song Dynasty (960-1279) poet Su Shi and his father and younger brother.
