The Discover Sichuan Gourmet Food promotional event was held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on July 3 (local time), as part of a campaign aimed to promote Sichuan's culinary culture and discover best Sichuan cuisine restaurants worldwide.
The event presented beef filet in hot chili oil and many Sichuan-style snacks such as glutinous rice cake, cold noodle, and sweet bean curd jelly for the participants to taste.
More delicious food choices were presented in the form of photos as part of a photography show on-site that also included photos showcasing other attractions of the province, from its beautiful capital city of Chengdu, to World Heritage sites and cultural relics, and to breathtaking natural sceneries and the adorable giant panda.
Exhilarating face-changing stunt of Sichuan Opera was staged to entertain the participants.
Hu Bin, deputy director of Sichuan tourism development commission, took part in the event, introducing Sichuan's rich tourism resources and explaining that the rich culinary culture of Sichuan reflects the influences of the prolonged history and diverse topography of the province.
Officials from tourism departments of Dubai and Sharjah, another emirate in the UAE, attended the event.
Direct flight service between Chengdu and Dubai has been launched by Sichuan Airlines in 2016 to offer convenient transportation for travelers from both sides. The airliner provided three round-trip tickets as the prizes of a lottery draw during the event.
