The eighth Great Shu Dao Cultural Tourism Festival announced international ambassadors to help promote rich cultural tourism resources preserved around the Jianmenguan Scenic Area in Guangyuan, Sichuan at its opening ceremony on July 19.
These ambassadors were selected from some 500 experienced tourists from more than 30 countries through a contest launched in May. Coming from different corners of the world, they are now connected through the same fondness for the rich and intriguing cultural heritage preserved around the Jianmenguan Scenic Area, including its two major attractions - Jianmen Pass and Cuiyunlang section of Shu Dao, the antient road system spanning across Sichuan.
The Jianmen Pass was Sichuan’s gateway to the outside world in the antient times, strategically located at where the Dajian Mountain, part of the Jianmen Mountains, is interrupted. While the Cuiyunlang section of Shu Dao boasts breathtaking views lined by thousands of verdant cypresses planted through more than 2,000 years.
Similar events have been organized in the past two years to find suitable people among international travel lovers to help promote tourism in the area. This year the selected international ambassadors represent a great diversity of culture and geography, coming from countries in different continents, including Ukraine, Poland, Brazil, Israel, Iran and Egypt.
