Located 15 kilometers northeast of Dazu County, Sichuan Province, the construction of Baoding Mountain Cliffside Statues began in 1179 during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and lasted for 70 years. Some Buddhists go there to worship, burn joss sticks or expound Buddhist doctrine.
