With a history of more than a century, Huangdao Road has stalls on both sides, reflecting the daily life of common citizens in Qingdao.

Since part of the road was covered with stone stairs and its width was limited, it’s hard to drive through. The stairs here are different from others because the height of each stage is only 4 centimeters but it’s much wider than usual stairs. Hence it’s hard for people to use only one step to walk a stair and two steps are more than need.

The stalls take half of the road and abundant goods are sold here. The market has been stopped few times but it came back again every time. It has become a necessary for people’s life. The major product of the market is seafood. They are all fresh with a reasonable price.

In this narrow street, garbage piles in the corners and walls lose their original colors. Even thought the prosperity has gone, it still maintains the taste of an old Qingdao.

Every city must have a road like this----old, crowded, messy----but it could reflect the true life.
