Observing Er Road extends from Jiaozhou Road to the top of the mountain, which has two branches: one is the highroad for the cars; another is the stone road for the pedestrians to the mountaintop.

Observing Er Road No. 1 is the St. Paul Church for Christians, which was founded in 1938 by a famous architect in Qingdao. The architectural style is Roman architecture with red brick walls. Besides the church, there is also a single belfry, which is one of the Top Five Belfries in Qingdao.

Observing Er Road No. 10 is a German architecture, which was founded at the same time with the Stone House in Observing Mountain. It was used to be the mansion of the chief of the observatory, including the chief Melman during the German occupation period and Jiang Bingran after Qingdao's regain.

The Observing Mountain is one of the 'Top Ten Hilltop Parks', with the altitude of 79 meters, which has a good view for enjoying the Qingdao's beautiful sceneries. The mountain changed its names for several times. Before being captured by Germany, it was called Dabao Island East Mountain. After 1897, it was named as 'Water Channel Mountain' because of building a storing reservoir here.
