Last week, the last two core modules for Russian Yamal LNG project were shipped at the Ship and Marine Industry Base in Qingdao West Coast New Area, meaning Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. have independently completed the manufacturing of all the 36 core modules needed for the project.
The work was pioneering since no Chinese companies had made similar achievement before and took three years of painstaking efforts to break through a series of construction and technical problems.
Yamal LNG is a strategic energy project developed by China and Russia. It is the world's first integrative project of polar gas exploration and development, liquefaction, transportation and sales.
While being the world’s largest LNG project, it was also the one with the highest latitude.
This project is mainly undertaken by Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd., CNPC Offshore Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd., and Qingdao McDermott Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. Among them, Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. is responsible for manufacturing all the 36 core modules needed for the project.
