The Qingdao Film Museum opened at the Lingshan Bay Film and Television Culture Industry Area in Qingdao, Shandong, on Sept 20. It is designed to show the prolonged history of light and shadow, with interactive activities.
The first floor takes up 2,730 square meters and has been put into use, encompassing two major areas for international film and Qingdao film. The second and third floors are under construction for private movie theaters, conference rooms for product launches, and a space for children science education, all looking to be completed within the year.
The international film division showcases the history of moving pictures, from film age to digital era, with holographic technology, virtual reality experiences, and chroma keying. While, the Qingdao film section offers a recount of the coastal city’s film industry history running for a century, from China’s first movie theater, to China’s first sound film, and to the restored site where China’s first “movie queen” Hu Die shot a movie in the city.
At the museum’s opening ceremony, the China National Film Museum signed agreement to support the Qingdao museum in exhibitions and film and television events for the long term. The preparatory office for Qingdao City of Film’s European office and the Bradford City of Film’s China office in Qingdao were unveiled.
