A CRH6A-type intercity electric multiple unit rolled off the production line at CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co in Qingdao, Shandong on Nov. 3. It will be delivered in December to serve Beijing's auxiliary city center line.

The EMU has a 1471 passenger capacity and boasts the technological superiorities of both EMUs and urban rail cars. Once put into use, it will be able to ease the traffic between Beijing's downtown area and suburban districts.

Beijing's auxiliary city center line is scheduled to open on Dec. 28, linking Shijingshan district in the west with Tongzhou district in the east. Major transportation links in Beijing - Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing Railway Station, and Beijing East Railway Station – will be covered in the route.
