Qingdao's first self-service grocery store opened at the Qingdao North Railway Station on Nov. 23. It is also the first such store to operate in the nation's railway system.

Cashier-less, the store operates all-weather and allows customers to pass the entrance and pay bills by scanning QR codes via their mobile phones.

Featuring a bright orange color, it covers 40 square meters on the second floor at the waiting room at the railway station, as part of the smart station program launched by the railway authority.
