Qingdao builds a model city for disaster alleviation

According to an expert panel, Qingdao's capacities of earthquake forecast, emergency rescue and disaster relief have met the standards for a model city of earthquake prevention and disaster alleviation in the country.

 

Following Shenzhen, Yangjiang, and Tangshang, Qingdao will be the fourth model city for earthquake prevention and disaster alleviation after passed the examination of a group of experts from the national and provincial earthquake administrations on Dec. 1.


Qingdao has set up seismic stations in all districts and seismic precursor monitoring systems in all districts except Shinan, Shibei and Licang. Earthquake resistance levels of public facilities have been enhanced. The city built a dozen of professional emergency rescue teams and 10 volunteer rescue teams in various districts.
