The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, is paying a five-day state visit to China through Friday at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

After visiting Shanghai and Suzhou in Eastern China, Duda arrived in Beijing late Tuesday, where he met President Xi.

On his first state visit to China, soon after taking office in August, Duda will be working to encourage Chinese investment, according to the Polish president’s office.

He is accompanied by representatives of Polish companies ranging from mining, construction, chemistry, banking, and high-tech sectors. And they will be returning home with three contracts.

"I'm glad that I am able to make the state visit four months after I took office as the Polish president. A healthy and stable relationship with China is very important for Poland. I'm here to work on boosting an all-round bilateral ties," Duda said.

China-Poland trade has grown more than three times since 2005, but the imbalance is serious. According to the Polish governmental statistics, China is the country's second largest import partner, but ranks 23rd in terms of Polish exports.

In June, the country’s foreign minister paid a visit to China to boost Poland’s exports.

In 2013, a two-way regular rail cargo service went into operation, connecting Lodz in central Poland, and Chengdu in Southwest China.

As their strategic partnership goes into its fourth year, China sees the development of the business ties steady and developing.

"I believe, through your state visit and the participation of the Fourth Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries, we will be able to bring the development of the Sino-Polish strategic partnership to a new level," Xi said.

According to the Polish government,Duda’s visit to China, which was announced in the first weeks of his presidency, demonstrates that Poland sees the relations with China as highly important. He says Poland is now in the process of re-industrialization, so working with China in all aspects, including trade and investment, will surely inject new vitality to that process.
