Chinese President Hu Jintao, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, has issued orders to commend nine People's Liberation Army (PLA) units and 16 PLA members for their outstanding actions.

Nine PLA units were awarded for their exceptional performances. And 15 PLA members, mostly senior military engineers, doctors, and heads of military institutes, were commended for professional excellence.

Zhou Bo, a PLA serviceman who sacrificed his life to rescuing a drowning child in February 2008, was also commended by President Hu.
