A gang leader and one of the key members were executed Sunday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, the city's higher court said.
Gang leader Fan Qihang, 40, was convicted of running a gang, murder, illegal dealing in and transportation of guns and ammunition, drug trafficking, operation of illegal businesses, bribery, operation of a casino, and tolerating others' drug taking.
Wu Chuanjiang, 33, was convicted of participating in a gang, murder and drug trafficking.
The Chongqing Municipal Higher People's Court on May 26 rejected the appeal of Fan and Wu, who were sentenced to death by the Chongqing No.1 Intermediate People's Court on Feb. 10 for the above charges.
The death sentences had been forwarded to the Supreme People's Court and were approved, according to the Municipal Higher People's Court.
The two and 32 other gang members were arrested for killing a man on June 3, 2009, which then led to a series of mob crackdowns in Chongqing. |
