Aftershock follows strong quake in Indonesia

An aftershock with the magnitude of 5.2 jolted the eastern part of Indonesia on Monday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported in Jakarta.

The shock struck at 06:25 a.m. Jakarta time Monday (2325 GMT Monday) with the epicenter at 16 km southeast Kendari of Southeast Sulawesi and a depth of 20 km underland, an official of the agency Derajat Ngatmanto told Xinhua by phone.

A mainshock of 6.0 magnitude struck off eastern parts of Indonesia on Monday, he said.

The quake hit at 06:06 a.m Jakarta time Monday (2306 GMT Sunday) with the epicenter at 55 km southeast Kendari of Southeast Sulawesi and a depth of 18 km, the official said.

No tsunami warning was issued after the quake. And there has been no report of damage or casualty so far.
