Apple has officially announced a special iPhone-related media event that will be taking place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4, 2011. The event will be held at Apple campus in Cupertino, California.
The invitation sent on Tuesday does not go into details. It says “let’s talk iPhone,” suggesting that the usually secretive company is likely to unveil the next iteration of its popular smartphones, iPhone 5.
The months before Apple Inc's every new product release are always filled with wild guesses. Although there is still no material proof of a new generation of iPhone, Apple fan sites and tech news sites have been reporting about details of the new iPhone, citing anonymous sources who claim to have an inside access to Apple's new smartphone.
According to a Bloomberg assumption, iPhone 5 will use a dual-core 1Ghz A5 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. The iPhone 5 will be also equipped with an accelerator, gyroscope, GPS, Bluetooth component, Wi-Fi antenna and two high-resolution cameras.
Apple is also reported to release a low-cost and contract- free iPhone model bundled with its cloud computing service iCloud.
