Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiators will meet on Tuesday in the Jordanian capital Amman, a Jordanian official has said.
Official Jordanian Petra news agency on Sunday quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad al-Kayed as saying that the meeting aims to reach a common ground for resuming direct talks between the two sides and achieving a Palestinian-Israeli peace accord.
Kayed also said that the Israelis and Palestinians would meet bilaterally as well as with representatives from the the Quartet of the Middle East, namely, the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and Russia.
The Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been deadlocked for a long time. The Quartet has set Jan. 26 as the deadline for them to resume negotiations.
