Maracana stadium has opened to the public as construction work continues for the 2014 World Cup and next year's Confederations Cup, AP reported. Beginning Saturday, visitors are being allowed to watch the renovation at the stadium, which will host the World Cup final in two years. Construction is expected to be completed by February 2013. Organizers say work is 45 percent complete. The venue is also expected to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
