A bomb threat delayed a flight from Shanghai to the southwestern city of Chengdu on Friday evening, airport authorities said Saturday.
Shanghai Pudong International Airport received an anonymous phone call at 6:36 p.m. on Friday saying that a bomb was onboard flight CA406, according to police at the airport.
Police evacuated the passengers and inspected the plane, but no bomb was found.
The flight, scheduled to take off at 6:30 p.m., took off at 11:23 p.m. after a delay of about 5 hours.
A further investigation into the incident is still underway.
