When entering southwestern China's Tibet Autonomous Region by air, tourists will be able to have a glance of the snowy mountain ranges of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau on the plane as long as the weather is sunny enough.
Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as the Roof of the World, covers a total area of 2.5 million square kilometers with an average altitude above 4,000 meters.
Both air and train are available for tourists to Tibet. However, we suggest that first-time visitors should enter the region by train to gradually adjust to the high altitude in order to avoid from the highland sickness.
