Chinese President Hu Jintao met his French counterpart Francois Hollande in Los Cabos Monday on the sidelines of a summit of the Group of Twenty (G20).

This is the first meeting between the two leaders since Hollande was elected French president last month.

In a congratulatory message to Hollande in May, President Hu said China always views its relations with France from a strategic and long-term perspective.

China is willing to work with France to advance a new, mature and stable comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and mutual benefits and with a global perspective in order to benefit both countries and the world at large, Hu said in the message.

At the G20 summit on Monday and Tuesday, the G20 leaders are trying to sort out risks to the world economic recovery and work out measures to ensure global growth and stability.
