Burundian Second Vice-President Gervais Rufyikiri on Monday morning left the Burundian capital Bujumbura for Brazil's Rio de Janeiro where he will attend the United Nations (UN) Conference on environment also called Rio+20.
Rufyikiri told reporters at the Bujumbura International Airport before departure that he is representing Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza to the UN environment conference.
Rufyikiri said the Rio Conference is dedicated to sustainable development and environment protection and stressed that world leaders will discuss "big projects on sustainable development and environmental protection."
The Burundi leader said he will seize the opportunity to present major aspects contained in Burundi's Poverty Reduction Strategic Plan, Phase II (PRSP II) to world leaders for their support.
"We will present major aspects of the Poverty Reduction Strategic Plan, Phase II to world leaders to request their support for its implementation to have sustainable development in Burundi, " said the Burundian Second Vice-President.
