An overnight earthquake hit Cote d'Ivoire's southwestern Grand-Lahou zone situated along the maritime coast, the residents of the region told Xinhua on Monday.
They said light tremors felt in most parts of the region at around 11:00 p.m. local time lasted for a few seconds, before jolting the region with heavy intensity, creating panic among the residents.
"We first heard the rumbling, then we saw that our houses shaking and the ground cracking," they reported.
The sources said the earthquake did not cause any loss of lives or destruction of property in the concerned localities.
