Top seed and defending champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus won the title of the Australian Open after beating Chinese Li Na 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.
The top seed lost the first set to in-form Li but came back strongly in the second set. Li fought bravely but was hit by injuries to her ankle and head and needed two medical time-out in the second and third sets respectively.
Li also suffered from 57 unforced errors.
