Well-known Chinese director Chen Kaige and his actress wife Chen Hong inspected the construction work of a film site in Xiangyang, in central China's Hubei province on July 16th, 2013.

Chen Hong held an umbrella for the director and carefully helped pull off clothes that were soaked with sweat and stuck to his skin.

The shooting base is built for Chen Kaige's new film which tells a series of stories relating to the aftermath of the death of Yang Guifei, the beloved consort of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang dynasty.

The story is adapted from Japanese novelist Yoneyama Mineo's novel of the same name.
