The 2014 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off in Baoshan Park on Thursday and will run until April 15.
This year, the park will showcase more than 50 cherry varieties with blossoms in many shades of white, pink and purple.
Early Sakura is already in bloom. According to figures from the Baoshan government, 110,506 people visited the park at the weekend, taking the total since the beginning of March to 132,763.
Admission numbers this year are the highest on record for the same period.
In addition to appreciating the beauty of the blossom, visitors can also enjoy six themed events including a photographic competition and an exhibition featuring the Year of the Horse.
