A man who bought numerous items made of ivory in Jinan, Shandong Province, has been arrested on suspicion of trafficking endangered wildlife products, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.
The man surnamed Yang bought over four kilograms of ivory products for 24,000 yuan ($3,898) at a street stall in Jinan. The items are estimated to be worth about 183,000 yuan ($29,719).
He was caught carrying a suspicious suitcase by police in Haining, Zhejiang Province, on March 8, and arrested on March 15.
The products were made of ivory from African and Asian elephants.
