UK Prime Minister David Cameron says the money will be used in areas such as surveillance aircraft and Special Forces.
"Well what we're saying today is because we've managed the economy prudently and because we've managed the defense budget carefully. There's no national economic plan without a national defense plan and that's what this government gives."
Cameron has made the announcement at the Farnborough International Airshow in southern England.
The new funding is reportedly going to pay for drones, UK Special Forces and intelligence gathering to tackle global terrorism.
