Yesterday marked the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it also saw the beginning of China's week-long National Day holiday.
Many tourism spots have witnessed a surge in tourist numbers.
Beijing's Palace Museum, also known as the "Forbidden City", had already welcomed 70,000 visitors in this single day.
East China's West Lake scenic spot has also been crammed with tourists, bringing a surge in tourism to the adjacent city of Hangzhou.
Meanwhile, a flag-raising ceremony was held in Tian'anmen Square in Beijing to celebrate National Day.
Over 100 thousand people gathered in the square to watch the ceremony.
Many people queued up overnight, despite windy weather in the capital.
Li Guoqing was part of the excited crowd.
"Today is my birthday. It will be an unforgetable lifetime experience for me to celebrate the day with my home country and people from different ethnic groups across the nation."
During the ceremony, 10 thousand doves and 30 thousand balloons were released.
