Lang Lang, Sting to celebrate youth at concert for UN 70th anniversary

Chinese pianist and UN messenger of peace Lang Lang will perform at the United Nations headquarters on Friday for UN Day.

He will be joined by Grammy-award-winning British musician Sting and an international youth orchestra conducted by fellow UN spokesperson Manuel Lopez-Gomez, who announced the performance on Monday.

Commemorating the anniversary of the UN, the concert is also seen as an opportunity "to highlight the UN's focus on youth and education of global citizens."

Lang Lang was chosen by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to be a messenger of peace in October of last year.
