Qiu Yuanyuan, host of the "Who's the Winner" TV show at Zhengzhou TV Station, was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in March, just after she became pregnant at the age of 26. Eventually, to make sure her child would be safe in her womb, she gave up chemotherapy treatment.
Her husband Zhang Qixuan told the local press yesterday that "marriage and pregnancy are such happy things for her, so she hoped everything ends well, and both she and child can be safe and sound." But she also said, "If I cannot choose both, I'd rather let my child live."
"It was a hard choice," Zhang said, "But she was brave and optimistic and believed life is beautiful. She understood things would not always be perfect, but she never regretted her choice."
Qiu died when her baby was just 100 days old. The TV host's story touched many people and triggered an outpouring of mourning and sympathy on the Internet while her husband said he will try hard to take care of their child and family.
