Beyonce won Best R&B Song and R&B Performance for "Drunk in Love" and Best Surround Sound Album for "Beyonce." She now has a total of 20 Grammys for her incredible career.
Eminem won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," cementing his role as the most awarded and best-selling rapper ever. With the win, Eminem has won a record six Grammys for Best Rap Album. He also shared Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award with Rihanna for "The Monster."
The standout performances included AC/DC, kicking off the show with "Rock or Bust" and the classic "Highway to Hell"; Rihanna's performance of "FourFiveSeconds" with Paul McCartney and Kanye West; Katy Perry, in all white, singing the ballad "By the Grace of God" though she won nothing for the seventh year running. A video of President Barack Obama appeared before she spoke, and he encouraged artists to help out. "It's on us, all of us, to create a culture where violence isn't tolerated," he said.
Madonna, dressed as a matador, performed "Living for Love" with background dancers wearing bull masks. Madonna danced and the audience at the Staples Center clapped in unison. Annie Lennox powerfully sang "I Put a Spell on You" and joined Hozier for "Take Me to Church."
Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Sam Smith, Mary J. Blige also gave unforgettable performances.
Beyonce closed the night with a peaceful yet powerful performance of "Take My Hand, Precious Lord," while Common and John Legend performed their Martin Luther King Jr. movie "Selma" theme song, "Glory."
