On Oct. 17, 16 communications officers of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), who were invited to participate in an academic week hosted by China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, paid a visit to Huinanzhuang pump station, a hydro-junction of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project located in Beijing.
The officers were from Central and Eastern Europe, East Africa, Central Africa, South America, Central America and Southeast Asia. During their stay in Beijing, they attended the Forum on Modern Water-control and Science Innovation, Roundtable Conference of Leaders of the Water International Organization, International Seminar on Water Development and Youth Mission of the Belt and Road Initiative, and a plenty of other academic meetings.
The visit also offered them a chance to further learn about the construction and management of China's mega-scale water diversion project.
At the Huinanzhuang pump station, the delegation visited the conduit project located at the Beijuma River, the sand table of the pump station, and a model of the pump case.
Many technological difficulties were tackled during the construction of the water diversion project and a bunch of the project's techincal standards have reached the top level in the world. The GWP communication officers said that the visit was "absolutely meaningful," and they expressed their hope of strengthening hydroengineering cooperation and communication in the future.
