More than 20 foreign leaders have confirmed they will attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) which is to be held in Beijing in May, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said over 20 foreign leaders, more than 50 representatives from international organizations, and at least 100 ministerial officials have confirmed their attendance. A total of more than 1200 delegates from various countries and regions will also be present. This shows the importance and support the international community attaches to the BRF and the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, Hua added.

The BRF consists of two parts, a roundtable summit and a number of high-level meetings.

Preparatory work for the BRF is well underway, and the official website has also been launched, Hua said.
