Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen arrived in China on May 2 to pay a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

The following are some facts about Rasmussen.

Rasmussen was born in Vejle, Denmark on May 15, 1964. He graduated with a law degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1992. From 1994, he began his political career as a congressman. From 1998 to 2001, he served as mayor of Frederiksborg County.

Rasmussen acted as Interior and Health Minister from 2001 to 2007 before his appointment as Finance Minister from 2007 to 2009.

In 2009, Rasmussen became the leader of the Danish Liberal Party. In the same year, he took over the post as prime minister of Denmark until 2011. In June 2015, Rasmussen's right-wing bloc won the general election and he became prime minister again. He is married with three children.
